Skippered Charter: We can provide a qualified skipper with the yacht. You will need a skipper if you do not hold the relevant qualifications for a bareboat charter. Your Skipper will be RYA/DOT qualified, and will take care of all the planning, safety checks and procedures. He will helm the yacht and take you to the destination of your choice (weather and time permitting), leaving you to relax and enjoy the sail. However, should you wish, you can take part in the sailing and helming as little or as much as you wish; the choice is yours.
Tuition: your skipper will also be pleased to give you informal tuition at no extra cost. We are also an RYA Recognised Training Centre and we run formal RYA courses.
Bareboat
Charter: This is available for suitably experienced
skipper and crew to sail the yachts without our skipper.
The following qualifications and experience are generally required:
- Cruising locally between Poole and the Solent as far as Portsmouth. Minimum requirements are for the skipper to hold a RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate, plus at least one other capable crew member qualified to RYA Competent Crew.
- Cruising further along the coast between Chichester and Weymouth. Skipper to RYA Coastal Skipper plus at least one other capable crew member qualified to RYA Competent Crew.
- Channel crossings and longer coastal passages require RYA Yachtmaster plus at least RYA Day Skipper as crew.
All
these guidelines are dependant on other factors, such as your previous experience
in the sailing area, crew qualifications and experience, number of crew, and
the weather forecast. If in doubt please phone to discuss.
