Skippered Cruises are for single people, couples, or small groups, who do not want to charter the entire yacht, but would rather join the yacht and mix with other like-minded people for the cruise. Skippered Cruises are ideal if you just want to book a place, turn up, enjoy the event and leave all the organising to the Christchurch Yachting Skipper. Groups of 4 or more can charter the whole yacht at a discount rate. This page will be updated regularly with the latest available dates and events. Cowes week spectating: £195 per person.
This trip
is suitable for novices and is an opportunity to sample the 'Cowes Week' experience,
when hundreds of yachts descend on Cowes for the famous 'Cowes Week' regatta.
We will not be taking part in the racing, but we will sail in The Solent to
view the racing action close-up. In total there will be 4 guests on-board,
plus the skipper.
Itinerary: The day will start in Lymington at 12.00 with a safety briefing
before setting sail. We expect to arrive at Cowes around 14.00, when the Cowes
Week racing will have started. Here we will sail amongst the various race
classes to see the racing close-up. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided
on-board while we are sailing. In the early evening we will sail to Yarmouth
to berth for the night. Here you can go ashore to have dinner in one of the
pubs or restaurants in Yarmouth. Sleep on-board overnight, then breakfast
in the morning, and a short sail into the Solent to watch some racing, before
sailing back to Lymington to finish at 12.00.
Price: £195
per person. Included in price: skipper, lifejackets, tea/coffee, snacks, breakfast,
berthing fees, fuel. Not included in price: dinner ashore.
Cruises to France
and Channel Islands: These channel Islands cruises give you the opportunity
to both increase your experience and gain two 60-mile passages, one usually
overnight. You will also have the opportunity to explore the picturesque un-spoiled
island of Alderney, and visit the interesting island of Guernsey or Herm.
Time available to spend ashore will vary depending on the tides and weather.
For example, 5 day cruise: This is a skippered cruise that is available for
individuals, couples, or groups of upto 7 people. Price: £495 per person,
to include berthing fees, food on-board. Discounts: 5% for booking a group
of 2 or 3 people, 10% for booking a group of 4 or 5 people, 15% for booking
a group of 6 or 7 people. The cruise starts on the evening of day 1 and this
is an example itinerary:
Day 1 - full safety briefing and preparation for departure early in the morning.
Day 2 - sail from Christchurch to Alderney
Day 3 - sail from Alderney to Guernsey or Herm
Day 4 - sail from Guernsey to Sark
Day 5 - sail from Sark to Omonville
Day 6 - return channel

As with all sailing, the
itinerary is subject to change depending on the weather conditions at the
time. In adverse weather it may be necessary to reduce time spent on the other
side or stay this side of the channel.
Mile-building and Experience Sails. These are intended for people wanting to add experience and sailing-miles for RYA qualification purposes, or just to extend their experience and confidence. Sailing time will be maximised and night sailing will be included. Weather permitting, we will cross the channel. Selected channel Islands cruises as detailed above will be used for this purpose. Half-Day Taster
Sail: For the complete beginner, or perhaps a dinghy sailor
who would like to try yacht sailing. No experience necessary, lifejackets
and safety equipment provided free. These events are arranged on selected
dates throughout the year when individuals or couples join a group of between
3 and 7 people. Alternatively the yacht, complete with skipper, can be booked
for your own party of up to 7 friends or family.
Description of the trip: The trip starts from Christchurch with a safety briefing

through Christchurch Harbour and sail into Christchurch Bay, towards The Needles
lighthouse or Hurst Castle.

sailing the yacht - hoisting and trimming the sails and helming - or if they
wish just sitting back and letting the skipper take care of sailing the yacht.

Full- day
sailing cruise: Trips start from Christchurch with a safety
briefing on board our yacht 'Venus', a 32ft Beneteau Oceanis 311 Clipper.
We then motor through Christchurch Harbour and sail across Christchurch Bay,
passing Hurst Castle and into The Solent.
There will be up to 7 people on-board and everyone will have the opportunity
to take part in sailing the yacht - hoisting and trimming the sails and helming
- or if they wish just sitting back and letting the skipper take care of sailing
the yacht.
We anchor in a bay or harbour for lunch on-board, then sail out past The Needles
lighthouse on the way back to Christchurch.
This itinerary is subject to change depending on weather and tide conditions
on the day, for example the lunchtime destination may be Poole Harbour instead
of Yarmouth.You should bring a packed lunch with you.
The start and finish
times are normally be 09.00 to 17.00, but these sometimes vary to suit the
tides. Exact timings will be confirmed when you book.
