Taster experience Sail.
Duration 2 hours. Location: meet in Captains Club Hotel reception, Wick Ferry, Wick Lane, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1HU - enjoy a coffee or a drink on the patio overlooking the river before or after the sail. (not included in voucher price) Cancellation: no cancellation by customer within 7 days of sailing date. Christchurch Yachting may cancel at any time due to unsafe weather forecast or any other operational reason, and shall not be liable to any expenses such as travel etc. Customers must be contactable on the day before sailing for such last-minute cancellations. Sailing from Christchurch Harbour, across Christchurch Bay, through Hurst Narrows, past Hurst Castle into The Solent, and berthing in Yarmouth Harbour on the Isle of Wight. This trip is suitable for novices and is an opportunity to sample the 'Cowes Week' experience, when hundreds of yachts descend on Cowes for the famous 'Cowes Week' regatta. We will not be taking part in the racing, but we will sail in The Solent to view the racing action close-up, berthing in a harbour overnight. The duration is approx 24 hours including sleeping on-board overnight. Included in price:

would like to learn basic seamanship. The course provides a short introduction
to sail cruising for novices. By the end of the course, participants will

the course you will have sailed 100 miles including 4 hours at night.

Voucher terms and conditions: Vouchers are valid until end October 2010. Vouchers are not refundable for cash. Bookings cannot be changed or cancelled within 5 weeks of sailing date. Christchurch Yachting reserves the right to postpone sailings or change itineraries owing to adverse weather or other reasons, and shall not be liable for expenses such as travel or accommodation. Your choice of full refund or alternative dates will be offered for postponements. Prices subject to change without notice.
JOINING INSTRUCTIONS:
What to bring with you:
Clean soft-soled non-marking shoes, such as trainers or deck-shoes, to change
into at the yacht. Good grip is essential, as surfaces can be slippery when
wet.
Warm clothing.(it is usually colder than you think when you get out on the
water).
Waterproof jacket and trousers (trousers not essential but your legs will
get wet if its raining or if there is spray from waves if its very windy).
If you are prone to seasickness or travel sickness, or if you are inexperienced,
we recommend taking seasickness tablets before arriving. (note: some tablets
need to be taken 2 hours before sailing)
Print and bring with you this form: safety
and waiver form
Start/ Finish Location: Captains Club hotel, Wick Ferry, Wick Lane, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1HU. Please go to the hotel reception desk at least 10 minutes before the start time, and wait in the hotel reception area where your skipper will meet you. It is important not to be late as we cannot wait due to tides and other schedules. The yacht is located directly in front of the hotel. Directions
Car parking: public car park nearby.
Christchurch train station 10 minute walk.
Bad weather: Please make sure that you are available on
your contact phone number on the day before sailing, as we will need to contact
you to cancel if the weather forecast is unsafe.

Safety Information.
It is a condition of booking that you read and understand the following safety
information. If in doubt ask your skipper:
Lifejackets: to be worn at all times on-board, except when inside the cabin.
The Boom: beware of serious head injury from the boom (the boom is the horizontal
metal bar above the cabin). Keep your head below the level of the boom at
all times. The boom can swing extremely quickly and without warning.
Hot water: hot water in the taps can sometimes be very hot and can scald.
Winches: use winches with caution and beware of trapped fingers
Liferaft: To deploy liferaft lift out of locker under the seat in the cockpit,
tie its rope onto the boat and throw liferaft overboard, tug on the rope to
inflate it.
Flares: To be used to attract attention in an emergency, they are located
under the seat cushion inside the cabin on the right.
VHF radio operation: To send a distress message push the button under the
flap labelled 'distress' for 5 seconds. The VHF radio is located inside the
cabin on the right.
Engine operation: push the key into the panel and turn to the right. Push
gear lever forward to go forward and back to reverse.
Locker doors: Beware of trapping/damaging fingers when using the locker door
catches
